Czech this out: What to do in Prague

Planning on seeing Prague on your way through Europe? ScholarTrip has a list of the best food and the things you just have to see before you go so you know what to to in Prague. Check out our best sights, best bites, and best places to go at night. (That rhymes, you know. So we must be right).

Best sights
The astrological clock in Prague

On my trip through Prague, I stumbled upon the astronomical clock by pure accident, and I wondered if I had been struck in the back of the head earlier that day without my knowing. The astronomical clock really is something special, so if you’re on a tight schedule, I wouldn’t wait for it to find you. The Prague castle is another must, and the Charles bridge is not a far walk from there. Consider seeing those two together. The national museum, national library, and national gallery are good options as well if you have time for them and like… national stuff.

Save time and skip the lines at top attractions when you plan and book things to do in Prague in advance.

Best Bites

Cheese. There is a ton of cheese in Prague. You don’t even have to go out looking for it, cheese will find you at all times of the day and at every meal. Be prepared for cheese. Prague is a less than ideal option for vegans, but if there are no dietary restrictions, sample as many cheeses as you can and try a pork knuckle, Czech roast duck, and potato pancake. Book a reservation and make the trip to Lokal for a truly authentic spot, or stay in the city center to dine at Kolkovna for another fantastic dining option..

Best Places at Night
A pilsner beer in a traditional Czech glass

Prague’s beer selection is vast and omnipresent. Chances are, you won’t have to look very far for a stein. If you like a little more refinement in your nightlife, perhaps a bit of art culture and history while you drink, the Hemingway Bar (yes, named for the writer) is the cream of the drinking scene crop (and a good spot to try absinthe. The man never stopped talking about anise in any of his writing). If you’re a complete degenerate and the late night scene is what you’re looking for, Klub 007 Strahov is the first and only stop you need to make.
