Experience the Best European Summer

By guest blogger Miriam Bribiesca

Always wanted to go to Europe? Well, lucky you because we’ve put together a list of three prime locations to visit this summer 2023. For starters, let us remind you that your first European Summer should be all about catching flights and not feelings.

So to get you started, we’ve compiled three safe and well-rounded travel locations that are sure to make for a memorable summer vacation. Let’s go!

Ireland

Starting off strong, we hope you allocate a couple of days for Ireland. With its rich cultural heritage, beautiful rolling green hills, and friendly locals, Ireland is everything you imagine plus more. As a visitor you can explore ancient castles and ruins, visit the Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland’s most iconic natural landmarks, and take in the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.

And let’s not forget that you can sample traditional Irish cuisine such as Irish Stew and Sheperds Pie, and of course, enjoy live music with a pint of Guinness at local pubs.

Ireland is perfect for first-time travelers not only because it is safe, but also because exploring this beautiful country is fairly easy and cost-effective.

Spain

Similar to New York, we are sure you’ve heard of Spain and been told that there’s nothing quite like it and we completely agree. Spain is a culturally rich and diverse country with vibrant history, excellent food, and exciting nightlife.

Students can explore cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, and Seville, as well as visit famous landmarks such as the Royal Palace, the Prado Museum, and the Retiro Park. And if there’s something else to get excited about aside from their romantic streets, is their absolutely delicious food! It would be a crime if you left Spain without trying any of these three cuisines: Paella (duh!), Patatas bravas, and Croquetas.

Now, while Ireland is a fantastic choice, if you’re looking for a laid back summer with the sounds of waves in the background then Spain is the place to be! Why? Because it is known for its stunning beaches and Mediterranean vibe. Two sangrias please!

Germany

Another great option with rich cultural heritage and a ton of activities to partake in is Germany. College students can visit historic cities such as Berlin, Munich, and Hamburg as well as visit Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, and the Berlin Wall Memorial. Clearly, there won’t be a shortage iconic sights when you step foot in Germany!

Of course, no trip is complete without food, so make sure to try the German cuisine with a big glass of beer if you’re not there for their famous Oktoberfest! Some of our faves are Bratwurst, Schnitzel and Black Forest Cake. Talk about a hearty meal!

One note to keep in mind is that unlike the other two locations, visiting Germany can be a little more costly, but after all, it is home to some of the world’s most famous cities and landmarks. Plus there are always cost-alternative options such as hostels and street food to make sure you stay within your budget.

These three destinations are just a few examples of the many fun and safe places to travel this summer. Whether you’re looking for adventure, cultural immersion, or simply a change of scenery, these countries offer a unique and unforgettable experience that will transform you into a whole new person come the new school year.
