Now talking about monasteries, one of the must-do activities at Lake Ohrid is to visit the Monastery of Saint Naum. One of the most rewarding and unique activities in Kotor is hiking up to the Fortress of Kotor. The fortress was part of Kotor’s fortification system dating back to the 9th century. But now it is a landmark that offers breathtaking views. For this, we recommend starting early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the midday heat. Ready, set, hike!

8. Tbilisi, Georgia

Offering a mix of modern and traditional. With its hot springs and delicious food, Tbilisi is the destination we recommend for those looking to lounge and take it slow this spring break.

Tbilisi is famous for its sulfur bath houses located in the Abanotubani district. These bath houses are an integral part of Tbilisi’s identity and offer a unique experience, with some bath houses dating back to the Persian era.

Aside from relaxing, one activity we recommend is to explore Old Town and then take a cable car to Narikala Fortress. The ancient fortress dates back to the 4th century and offers some of the best views of the city. Check and check!

9. Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

A city where East meets West, Sarajevo is unique with its Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian influences, delicious cuisine, and affordability. Making it a unique destination for budget travelers. 

Sarajevo is often called the “Jerusalem of Europe” due to its historical religious diversity. This mix is evident in the city’s mosques, churches, and synagogues. The city played a significant role in 20th-century history, being the site of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, which sparked World War I.

One unique and significant activity in Sarajevo is visiting the Tunnel of Hope, also known as the Sarajevo War Tunnel. This historic tunnel was a lifeline for the city during the Siege of Sarajevo in the Bosnian War.

10. Salento, Colombia
