The Art Institute of Chicago

The iconic and inviting bronze lion statues sit at the front steps of the Art Institute of Chicago, one of the largest and oldest museums in the United States. There are over 300,000 art pieces, paintings, sculptures, and more in this enormous collection spread across galleries and hallways. You could spend a couple days exploring this magnificent museum, but with only a few hours, you can check their brochure for the most popular exhibits and their locations. Museum of Science and Industry 

The main way to describe the Museum of Science and Industry is an immersive interactive experience. Most exhibits are hands-on and life-size, such as viewing the world’s largest display of LEGO Art or dissecting a cow eyeball in a laboratory. You can also explore and take a tour of the U-505, the only WWII German submarine in the United States. There are hundreds of fascinating exhibits in this museum that will leave you in awe. 

Field Museum

The world’s most complete and preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex, Sue, lives at the Field Museum in Grant Park. From understanding the story of Sue the T-Rex to the daily lives of ancient Egyptians, the amount to learn in this museum is extraordinary. Museum of Contemporary Art

The Museum of Contemporary Art is an enormous building dedicated to works of contemporary art. Visitors can understand the social, cultural, and historical context of these pieces as well as the viewpoints of current and past artists. Their collection includes artwork and media that spans generations from the 1920s to the present. They are well known for their major touring exhibitions that immerse visitors into the time and setting of the artwork.
