Starting 2024, there are crucial changes coming to European travel. If you’re an American planning a trip to Europe, your passport alone won’t be enough for entry. Due to the updated European Union (EU) regulations, travelers will need to register for the ETIAS program, which we’re referred to as the EU electronic visa 2024.
We have done the work and have all the information you need right here!
1. What is the EU electronic visa 2024?

It’s not a visa technically, but you do need to register
The ETIAS travel authorization is not a visa, but an electronic entry point. This authorization is linked to your passport and is valid for 3 years or until the passport expires. It allows you to have short term stays generally up to 90 days within any 180-day period. It does not guarantee entry however, as a border guard will ask to see your passport and other documents to verify your authorization.
2. How do I register EU electronic visa 2024?

Visit ETIAS online, pay $7.67
The program is not active yet, but will require an individual to register online through the ETIAS website or mobile application. The cost is $7.67 USD or €7 EUR, but waivers may apply for specific cases. For most cases, the registration will be processed in minutes, but in select cases, further screening may be required.
3. Are all countries in the EU involved in this?

France, Spain, Italy, and more* countries will require EU electronic visa 2024
There are 30 European countries* that will require the ETIAS registration and that registration would be valid for travel in between those countries as well. For other countries not in the ETIAS program, you would need to look at their specific requirements for American travelers.
*Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland
4. When do I need to register for the EU electronic visa 2024?

No specific launch date, but starts in 2024
The program does not become active until 2024, but from that point it’s important to register well before your travel to Europe.
