In a world where “do more” and “see everything” are practically travel mantras, it’s time to rebel. If your idea of a perfect getaway involves lounging more and stressing less, then grab your comfiest sweatpants and join us on this virtual tour of three destinations designed to help you slow down. Sometimes it’s not about collecting passport stamps, but about finding your zen, one lazy day at a time.

Ubud, Bali
Picture this: You’re reclining on a daybed in a beautiful room surrounded by lush greenery and the distant sound of water reminds you to take a deep breath and silence your mind. That’s Ubud in one sentence! Known as a perfect place for a mindfulness retreat, you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars in a fancy hotel when every corner offers countless reasons to relax.
If the idea of exploring Bali conjures images of crowded beaches and frantic itineraries, Ubud will make you rethink everything. With its terraced rice fields that are like nature’s own giant zen garden, every sunrise feels like a personal show just for you. And you know what your job is? To admire it.
Talking about zen, with spas everywhere, your biggest dilemma while here will be choosing between a Balinese massage or a flower bath. Why not do both?
In case you didn’t know, Ubud is the unofficial yoga capital of Bali. So whether you’re a seasoned yogi or you’ve only done one Downward Dog in your life, there’s a class for you. We hear The Yoga Barn is legendary, but smaller studios around town are bound to offer an opportunity to look inward through movement and breath.
If yoga is not your vibe, Ubud’s cafes are perfect for simply lingering. Places like Clear Café and Seniman Coffee Studio are ideal for sipping on kombucha or a latte while you dive into your passion project or just people watch. We approve of both!

Kyoto, Japan
If Ubud is the hippie cousin of relaxation destinations, then Kyoto is the serene, slightly more sophisticated aunt who still knows how to have a good time. Steeped in tradition, Kyoto is the perfect place to slow down and find tranquility. We know you work hard, so why not relax even harder?
Because we know you’ve heard of places like Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion) and Fushimi Inari Shrine, don’t miss the lesser known spots like Honen-in, where you can meditate in peace and without the crowds. In fact, Kyoto is home to over 1,600 temples and shrines, meaning that on this trip there is no shortage of options to find a quiet corner to simply be.
Because in Asia tea is life. We recommend embracing the ritual of tea like a local. Tea houses, or “chaya,” offer experiences that go beyond just sipping matcha. Participate in a traditional tea ceremony and be changed forever. But beware! You’ll never be able to look at Starbucks the same way again… but is that really a negative?
If there is one thing we know, it’s this: Kyoto is made for leisurely walks. For instance, the Philosopher’s Path is lined with cherry blossoms in spring, and is ideal for contemplative strolls. No pressure though! If all you do is walk around with no purpose in mind that also works. And let’s not forget Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, where towering bamboo creates a natural habitat of calm. Who knew you could get a hug from nature? But in all honesty, wherever you decide to stay is a perfect place to walk and get to know the neighborhood. Make mental notes of your favorite homes, the way the light hits the trees at a certain time, or just any little thing that brings you joy.

Santorini, Greece
When it comes to iconic getaways, Santorini often tops the list. But beyond its photogenic views and white-washed buildings lies an island perfect for taking it easy. Seriously!
Because the goal here is to relax, start your day with a leisurely breakfast overlooking the caldera. The view of the sea is the kind of thing that makes you forget what stress even is. We don’t know her.
Heard of beach bumming? Well, Santorini’s beaches, like the black sands of Perissa or the red sands of Akrotiri, are PERFECT for spending an entire day doing nothing but lounging, swimming, and occasionally flipping over to even out your tan. Now THAT is what we call a productive day!
After your midday nap, make time to catch a sunset in Oia, which from what we hear are world famous for a reason. We recommend a cozy bar or your hotel balcony and just watch the sun perform its closing act.
If you wish to Venture away from the tourist hubs of Fira and Oia. The villages of Pyrgos and Emporio offer a quieter, more authentic experience. Why not wander through the narrow streets, take your time eating a meal, chat with locals, and embrace the slow pace of island life.
Clearly, ditching the itinerary never sounded so good and whether you’re meditating in Ubud, or soaking up the Santorini sun, remember that the slower you go, the more you’ll uncover. In a world obsessed with speed and productivity, these three havens invite you to hit the brakes and simply unwind. So pack light, breathe deep, and get ready to discover the joy of doing less and experiencing more. And of course, take advantage of our exclusive student deals that will give you another reason to make this trip happen. Happy lounging!
