We are happy to help should you or someone in your group need special travel arrangements. ScholarTrip recommends putting in your request as soon as your tickets have been issued.
The air transportation industry has come a long way in its efforts to make air travel accessible to everyone. Carriers have policies and trained staff in place to provide necessary assistance to passengers who may have limited mobility, vision or hearing impairments, cognitive or developmental disabilities; as well as to passengers joined on their trip by a caregiver or a safety companion, or who are travelling with a service or support animal. Special assistance may also be available for passengers with dietary restrictions or allergies, for pregnant women (esp. close to delivery) or parents travelling with newborns, for travelers who bring along mobility and/or medical devices, etc.
If you or someone in your group needs to request special travel arrangements our Customer Care Team will help you navigate the relevant airline policies and requirements and will make every effort to put you in direct contact with the designated accessibility teams at your airline(s).
In our experience, it is best to submit special assistance requests directly with the carrier to ensure that everything is confirmed on the spot or otherwise feasible alternative solutions are discussed and agreed upon promptly.
We recommend that all such arrangements be requested as early as possible in case their approval is subject to availability or other factors. (For example, the number of service animals allowed on aircraft is usually limited.)
Last, but not least: Your airlines’ online resources can be invaluable. Carriers’ websites provide a lot of useful information that will help you better prepare for your trip and make informed decisions about choices that are important to you and your travel companions.
