Most airlines do not allow name changes or name corrections in their air reservation records.

The passengers’ names represent a sacred part of the booking record that cannot be changed. This is why we ask that you double check all the names provided at the time the reservation is requested. We cannot stress enough how important it is to get all the names right, EXACTLY as they appear in the passport.

While—in rare situations!—there might be a chance to find a workaround (like, for example, canceling the initial air reservation and then creating a new one), alternative solutions may incur additional expenses and are contingent upon factors such as fare restrictions, inventory availability or particular airline policies.

(Like any of them fast rules, this one too has exceptions; but they are so rare and far between that it would be misleading to even hint that anyone could realistically count on special treatment.)
